I need to replace my glasses and I am thinking about getting the kind of glasses which fade into sun glasses in the light. Does anyone have these? Can you tell me if they work well?
Thanks!

I have them and I love them! I am so used to them that I cant think of not having them. they do cost a little more but it is very worth it.

Just got them this week - I love them so far. But they dont help with the sun while driving since the windows prevent the lenses from turning color.
if you have a costco near you that has an optical store - go there it is much cheaper than anywhere else I have found.

Thanks!
I am in Israel so I don't know where the best ones are to be found but I will try the store I used last.
Do the glasses fade fast? Is it ever annoying when you go from light to shadow?

maybe they're made better these days - but back when I had them - the colour never really faded completely and it was too bothersome ...

So what do you do to protect your eyes from the sun? I can't imagine evr putting lenses into my eyes. Maybe I should consider glasses with hook-on shades...

I have them, it's called transition.
Indoors, they are completely clear, but outside they get very dark.
I remember the old fashioned ones (never had those BH) but mine get completely clear!!!
I love them!!

I can't have several pairs. I need one pair that sits on my nose from morning till evening so I think the transition ones are a good idea unless Greenfire's descriptions holds true...

I think hook ons look very very old ladyish...
Built in sun screen is annoying when you go back inside and honestly I don't think it looks very good ("dark" glasses need sunglasses frame to look good imo).

I had the clip on ones - I enjoyed them much more ... but perhaps the 10 or so years have made technology in transition lenses more clear ... 8)

It is nice if it looks good but comfort comes first. In the strong sun light here in Israel I think I've been very foolish to go 4 years without sun glasses because I stick to the pair of glasses that I have till they look like they're going to fall apart if you sneeze on them.
