A few months ago my 10 yo son took an online jeopardy test. Apparently he did well, because I got an email that he is invited to a tryout. Of course its on Shabbos!! I called up and left a message explaining the situation - I hope they agree to give us a different date. I am soo excited for him, but didnt tell him yet because so far he cant go anyway. How cool is this? I just hope that if he does get thru, there wont be any more shabbos hurdles to deal with. ANyone have any experience with this?

When I tried out the official date was also Shabbat...but they had an alternate date on the Sunday. It should not be an issue.

OP here - they called back with an alternate date, which is after succos, perfect... but in Chicago.. which involves a flight. I hope we have enough mileage to get free tickets!
