What time do you put your older school kids to bed? Specifically curious about 10 and 12 year olds. What time is their bed time on a schoool night? what time in the summer? How many hours of sleep does a 12 year old need?

That might b e, but adults need adult time in the evenings. The only kids who stayed up in our house were kids who took care of themselves !

My 12 year old defies my rules, supposed to be getting ready at 9:20, in bed by 9:30.

Bedtime for the older kids really isnt consistent - basically when all homework is done they shower and get into bed - I let them read for a while to unwind. Unfortunately once the heavy HW load starts, they never get enough sleep = although I have made my daughter go to bed before finishing, and sent in a note to whichever teacher she didnt finish the work for, explaining that I felt her sleep was more important than completing the work. Most teachers were ok with it, but she did have to finish the next day, which doesnt really solve anything....
