A couple I am close to are getting married. They will be combining two homes already so they will have a surplus of all the standard stuff. They were both widowed after 30/40 years of marriage so as you can imagine they have everything.
Any suggestions? We're in Israel so I guess anything up to about 200 shekels is good.
thanks

I have no clue if they would appreciate this: a barbecue grill? I don't know how much they cost. Either it could bomb or they'd love it. G'luck!

You might be surprised, they may need stuff. Any kids you could ask? Is a gift certificate too impersonal?

I was in a store yesterday (Moriah bookshop) and I saw beautiful challa trays (to put the sliced challa on) made of decorated glass with a silver Shabbat Shalom at the top. I think around 200 shekels. I think something like that - a luxury utensil that is also useful.

Money or gift certificates. It's not impersonal at all, in fact, usually that's what parents and close family give, right? As far as I'm concerned that is the only thoughtful gift unless there is a registry. You don't know what this couple needs. Maybe they want to choose their own BBQ grill. Maybe the challah trays you think are beautiful aren't exactly her cup of tea. An older couple does not want to suddenly welcome all this junk they'll never use into their home. Let them choose what they want.
