With all the threads on tznuis clothes and yet wanting to look pretty and chic I thought maybe those of you that are very fashionable and know how to dress correctly could you post pictures/links of shirts, skirts, handbags etc.. that look pretty and are tznuis?
I think I and a lot of others would really benefit from your help

I am no expert but I do enjoy looking, as you say, tznius and polished/fashionable/"put together" every day. The only problem in terms of your post, though, is that I NEVER buy things online, and never even shop in stores that have websites, so I don't see how I can help you with your question. If you can find a small store that you feel comfortable in and can afford their clothing, you can try to develop a "relationship" with the owner or salesperson so that you feel comfortable having them advise you or make suggestions. I'm not sure where you're located, I personally prefer shopping in "frum" stores, but I will say that even though I live "in-town" where there are no shortage of frum stores, it took me many years of trial and error until I found a store where I was comfortable with the prices, selection, and sales help, and now I basically ONLY shop at that one store. If you're out of town or not in a place where you can find such a store, it may be harder, but I'm sure you can still figure out a way...maybe someone else who shops online can find pictures for you and answer your question in a more helpful way!

No not exactly what to buy but if you are good at matching up pieces of clothes and styling you can suggest ideas or post pictures of whats appropriate wear that is also pretty. I know when I go shopping I always take a fashionable friend with me whose taste in clothes I enjoy. She will send me pics/links of outfits that are stylish and then I can think ok now how do I make this tznuis. That is more of what I mean unless I am not being clear still Wink

Over the years, I have discovered that the trick to dressing tzniusly and beautifully is a fabulous tailor. Smile I often buy and alter things a bit. I may buy a skirt in a larger size to cover my knees appropriately and then taper the sides, or taken in the waist or whatever, and I always, always buy on sale, I try to buy quality pieces that will last.
I don't often shop on line, but I tried to pick up a few pieces for you.
These days, I have noticed in the store, is a lot of shells with high necks, and really beautiful embellishments.
What I love about these styles is they often have a very lose cut, which is quite tznius, and when pared with a longer cardigan in a complimenting or contrasting color, are often very slimming as well. Obviously, different body types will require different cuts.
For example, this from banana republic looks like it has quite a high neck, and lose fit, and when pared with a black cardigan and skirt, or brown or gray or whatever, will look quite beautiful, and no need for a necklace Smile
For tznius reasons it is hard to buy online, for what may look like quite a closed neckline in the picture will be quite open in reality.
Banana republic
or this is more casual look
gap

and you could pare a loser cardigan with that Gap
or a cardigan like this gap could be a reallly good basic and might match with the first shell.
Then for skirts, just scanned some websites, and it looks like mini-skirts are the in thing for fall. Which can be a little tricky.
but an a-line skirt like thisnordstrom looks quite nice.
Again it's tricky to see the fit online, but it looks like a tznius sort of style. Quite pricy though.
All of these stores-gap, banana republic, have great sales, where you can find things up to 75% off, the trick is to buy at the end of the season for next.
Anon, because I don't know how helpful this is,

Amother I really like those tops you linked to, but I personally wear those with a 3/4 or long sleeve tee underneath. For me, such fashionable top + stylish cardigan make it a bit too much (personal taste, not tznius wise Wink ).

The trick for me is to have several nice good quality skirts (jean, black, brown)and always keep an eye out for new skirts.

The trick for shirts is to layer (or with cardigan in winterdays).

I like these kind of tops, with a dicky, long, short or 3/4 tee underneath or by themselves if they cover up enough.

These are just some ideas there is a lot more out there the trick is a good search and esp. during sales time you can get it at amazing prices!!

Amother #2 you should also come out I think some of those tops are really cute. Keep the tips and ideas coming. Also I was thinking of my sister in law who is a fabulous dresser she always has great accessories. A matching headband, or scarf, a belt or cute shoes. My problem is usually being indecisive and having a limited budget. I really wish I had a friend here in Israel that could shop with me. Alas I have to wait till I go to America to shop with someone "in the know". Who knows how long that will be:(
So seeing these ideas certainly gives me an idea. Although I have to admit the current style "maternity" that I see in a lot of sites is not for me. I am not pregnant and don't want to look it.

The thing is I refuse to shop in frum stores... I rather shop in normal stores and always think how to make the clothes work for me (if they don't cover up completely by themselves). Think of dickies, short sleeved tees, sleeveless shells, long-sleeved tees or sleevies (or even a matching cardigan).
I love normal cute clothes.... Just always think how to make them work for you!!

It's interesting how different people have such different tastes...almost all the posters who showed links to clothing, especially the last one, while they were all perfectly nice, almost ALL of them needed shells, layers, etc. to make them totally tznius, whether the neckline, sleeves etc. For me, that's EXACTLY why I prefer shopping in "frum" stores...you never (or rarely) have to "play with" things to make them look tznius, you can usually wear them "as is," and if not they usually have available on the spot whatever you might need to "adapt" it. Totally not to boast, but I get compliments on my clothes all the time, even from non-Jewish/secular people. Even in the frum stores, I guess my taste is a bit "different" b/c I usually get the one thing that NOT everyone else already bought, so I don't usually end up seeing my clothing on 100 other people. For me, looking "put together" is not about having to modify non-tznius things to make them look tznius...but again, to each her own! Enjoy!

By here the trend is:

sleeveless dresses at least to the knee (just wear them on a tight top), you can make them even more tznius with leggings under

stuff like this, all closed or even with a collar

Okay, I am a big dork and totally not "with it", but do people really wear stuff like this? With a shell underneath? Weird.

The other things you linked to could be cute, though.

I'm not sure what a shell is, but many people wear this with a clingy, long sleeved top of a matching colour under. It's very pretty and a classic to frum weddings.

Back on topic, the OP is looking for how to look trendy and put together while keeping tznius. I don't think she is looking for a discussion about modes of dress in different countries nor wanting to know that you soooo wouldn't wear something. Keep the ideas coming..!

I can't help but think of the Far Side (or knock off, can't remember who did this) of Armani at home. In his A-shirt, slouched on an old lazy boy with beer cans all over.

I want a poll question with this thread:
Are you wearing
- chanel and pearls (what else?)
- a suit
- an unconstructed suit
...
...
- denim and sneakers (which ones?_
- curlers and a scarf (cigarette optional)

Some of those VS tops are really pretty. Do you have some weekday options? Maybe I should add whats easy to clean as well as I don't want to wear dry cleaned stuff when I am with my dd all day.
