We say he makes wet or dirty. He chose the words and I'm happy with them so I'm leaving them. |
Hey, are we related? We use the same words for all 3.

DS1 (2.5) does not use the word inappropriately but he DOES use "poopy" and "stupid" all the time -- I think it has more to do with which words he hears other children using for making trouble than anything else.

My 3 year old son asked me "What do Mommys wear on their tushy" and I told him "none of your business"
Just so you wont accuse me of keeping my sons ignorant, I'll tell you this story: When one son around 9 years old asked where babies come out from (We were in the sukkah, with a male guest and about to make kiddush, when he made a big announcement "I don't get it...There is just no possible place...") I told him it would not be tznius if I told him, and right away, he said "oh," and understood and was quiet.

I have no idea if this is real Yiddish because my grandfather made up some of his own "creative" yiddish, but my mom learned from him that boys have a shmekel and girls have a shmunkie. That's what my parents called it when I was a kid.

I just looked it up- it's called מוטערשייד, "mutersheyd".
And the proper (I.e. not vulgar) Yiddish terms for a boy's organ are "מילה, אבר, מענלעכע אבר"

while I am a believer in using the correct terms, it becomes a bit more complicated for girls....b/c what theyr pointing to is not their vjj......
but I have a bigger questions: why, as we are all adults here, do we still need to figure out creative ways to spell all of these things (I.e. zex).....seriously, isnt it time that we allowed the real word on the site instead of having it replaced???? it's not a bad word......

Am I blonde or what? Why do you need a name for it?
Call it whatever you wish but I grew up in a huge family where my mother trained 10+ kids & raised them all without a name for "it". The good part is that no one ever used these words to get back at anyone! I believe you can raise a child & train them without having a name for IT or what comes out of it.
When I bathe DD I would sometimes say now let's make sure your panties area is nice & clean but otherwise why would you need to talk about it, maybe I'm missing something here.

We had a thread on this awhile back where I explained that many people are careful to use lashon nekiya (since the Torah, Chazal, etc. all use lashon nekiya) and therefore use euphemisms when possible.
There are no non-euphemistic terms for these actions or body parts in lashon hakodesh for a reason.

I still don't understand why they need a name with little kids. My mom never named them.
