Can I wear a fall to my sister's wedding?

You also mentioned the pony shaitel option. Pony shaitels are great for doing up-dos because you have long, single length of hair. More effort then a band fall, but you end up with that really elegant really done look.

My sister did this twice this year for her sil's weddings. She had them done by someone and with enough hair spray and bobby pins anything is possible! she finds her pony shaitel the most comfortable anyway and liked having the hair up, instead of down getting shvitzed and knotted.

SV, my sister has done a full updo for a few weddings. She looked beautifully elegant.
She does not recommend having a regular Sheitel Macher do a full updo. She's only had it done at a salon (Ben Simon specifically, and only uses the owner Avi for this.) It looks so natural, and stays so tightly together. It's done right on the head on the day of the wedding, and you walk out with it like that.
Her Sheitel never got ruined from this.

I've seen falls lots of times, even at really elegant weddings, though it's usually at wedding where some of the people don't cover their hair, so the ones walking down the aisle in a sheitel would look different regardless.

I think the pony-sheitel updos look terribly fake in the back.

Remember - the up-do isn't the only way you can do your hair for weddings! There are lots of styles other than the up-do!

maybe just go to a trimming store in manhattan. buy a piece of lace/mesh/chiffon and then choose something nice to stick onto it- easily done with a hot glue gun. that is sure to be your cheapest option an dyou will be able to pick your colors and taste.

Traditionally with a long gown women, wear their hair up to give them height.

Tht said, it's not the prettiest look for all women. You do what you want.

If you go to many such affairs, get something appropriate - maybe a synthetic that you can wear just for weddings.

I just got my ponytail wig done for my sister-in-law's wedding. She curled the hair, put some body in the top, swept the long bangs to the side, and pinned the curls so they cascade down at the back - imagine a banana-clip style. She's put lots of spray and bobby pins in, so it should hold... (I'm travelling to Israel with it so am a bit nervous but PG it'll be ok.)

I was told it wasn't appropriate. But I was in a pinch and all I had was my fall, so my sheitelmacher fixed me up really nice for my sister's wedding. I'm ok with a few inches of hair peeking out from the front, so she sort of pulled some hair out in front of the band and gave it some volume and then I put a beaded headband. She also sort of curled the wig (it's a wavy one) into sort of loose romantic waves and it changed the entire look.

I never imagined that this would become such a hot topic but I REALLY appreciate everybody's comments and opinions

My pony sheital is pretty long - half way down my back (when in a pony it looks shorter), so wearing it half-up will be too annoying and hot and I think it would quickly start to look like a mop on my head...

This is an OOT, BT, low-key kind of wedding so I am just hoping that it's not a total "pass nisht" that I wear a fall Smile

the way it would be if this was a regular NY wedding...

I like half up styles at weddings....either with a sparkly clip or simple. But I am not sure that you can play with your fall like that. I did it with my full sheitel for my SIL's wedding.
I LOVED the headbands on that candband site. I wish they weren't soo expensive some are REALLY gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!
