We say he makes wet or dirty. He chose the words and I'm happy with them so I'm leaving them. |
this is what we do as well.

No, b"H he doesn't do that. |
The thing that made me decide I didnt want to have my son all it a p3nis is because I once was at someone's house and their three year old boy was sitting on the couch, playing with himself.
"Look mommy, my p3nis is really big now. Look mommy, my p3nis is getting smaller now. Look mommy, my p3nis is big again!"
I was and said I dont want my son calling it a p3nis... |
And you would have felt any different if he had used a different word?
We used p3nis. Its just a word, and its one that, chas v'shalom, he ever needs to communicate to others about (eg abuse), everyone understands.

We call it pishy, and his backside is tushy.
Even my DH and I don't use the anatomically correct words since we are careful about using lashon nekiyah. We could have taught him to use the term "eiver" but my oldest came up with the term "pishy" on his own, since that is what comes out of it, so we stuck with that term.
I see no connection between the terms used and the ability to chas v'shalom report abuse. I would understand a boy perfectly well if he said that someone touched his pishy, peepee, or eiver.
I still need a term for DD's private part though.

Is it only to Swedish ears that that sounds very funny?

I thought its from the words "geb" and "mutter" meaning "mother-giver"- as in that it delivers a child...???

I grew up thinking 'parts' was a very funny word and was embarrassed if anyone used it, as to me that meant my private parts. it wasn't until my mom explained to me quite recently that she called it our 'parts' because of 'private parts'. I always pictured the word to be spelled 'pahhtz'.
anyway, now I use 'parts' for my boys and my girls, and that seems to work just fine. I would feel less awkward if my dd called out loudly 'ima my parts are sore' than if she said 'ima my private part is sore'. it's just a bit less graphic somehow.

Well, we've always called it "aiver" and "vulva" (just two boys so far, but DS1 has asked me if I have a aiver and I told him no, I have a vulva). DS1 (2.5) does not use the word inappropriately but he DOES use "poopy" and "stupid" all the time -- I think it has more to do with which words he hears other children using for making trouble than anything else.
DS2, on the other hand, calls it his "neem-neem." I think he's just having trouble with the pronunciation, but it will be funny if that ends up being the word in our family.
