My friend from seminary who I am still in touch with sent me an invitation for her son's bar mitzvah. They live in Israel in a dati leumi community (mitzpeh navo/maaleh adumim). We will not be attendng but I would like to send a gift. I am at a loss as to what to send (I have only girls and they are still preschoolers). I would give a gift certificate to a Judaica store or barns and noble for example in America but in Israel...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

They live in my neighborhood so if you want to give a sefer or something I can deliver it for you (that's normally what people give). You are free to PM me.

my son was recently Bar Mitzvahed and all I can say is he got 100s of sefarim. He also got 2 gifts that were really thoughtful (not that sefarim aren't, but you know what I mean). One is the Kosher Shabbos lamp and the other was a book stamp that said in Hebrew "from the library of . . . (ds name).

Would you be interested in giving him a gift certificate for an Israeli book store?

Slightly OT I am looking for a gift to give an AMERICAN very yeshivish boy who is now in Israel but will be going back to America at the end of the summer?
We usually give sfarim and I'm sure a sefer will be much appreciated by this boy - but I don't know how much his family wants to shlep back tons of sfarim.

If you want to do the book stamp idea - there is someone in teh Gush who makes tehm - I think it is about 180sh
it is very useful. and light to carry back.
Otherwise a "yad" for tora reading was also like by my ds. (sold in 2 places in Efrat)
