Mont Blanc is a bit more "macho", catering more for men's fountain pens marketing focus on technical aspects. I think Meisterstick (sp?) is their leading brands.

Being a jeweller, Cartier is more on "dressy" side. Cross is more affordable than the two, though quite reliable (but often tend to be used for corporate gifts).

OP, are you sure your DH wants/appreciates fountain pens? I offered my DH to get one but he said he would dread ink drips damaging his shirts. Or are you getting a high-end ball-poit pen?
