Arabs managing our ports?!

Post new topic   Reply to topic View latest: 24h 48h 72h

Do you think that an Arab company operating commercial ports in the U.S. is a threat to our security?
Not at all. I trust them to do the job right.

Security experts disagree over whether the Bush administration is acting admirably or recklessly by approving the deal, in which the company controlled by the United Arab Emirates would manage terminals at ports in New York, Newark, Miami, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

"Dear Mr. President: In regards to selling American ports to the United Arab Emirates, not just 'No' -- but 'Hell No!' '' Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C. wrote Bush in a letter distributed to reporters.

Absolutely. Who in their right mind could think this was a good idea? Even if you were to trust them now, who is overseeing the company long term and ensuring security? This has to go down in the record books as one of the most absurd governmental fiascos--it rivals Bush's congratulations of FEMA for it's Katrina response.

I think there's something deeper here that no one knows about, like maybe Bush's oil interests will stand to gain from this portsdeal...wouldnt put it past our good ol' president. He 's gotta line his own pockets.

a great line I saw - "Anything that Jimmy Carter thinks is a good idea is almost always a bad one. Need I say more?"

HOWEVER, surprisingly, 'Right-wing' radio, TV guys
split on control of U.S. ports'
