what should I do??? My baby is 10 months and her sleeping at night is getting worse from month to month.
It used to take while for her to fall asleep on he crib... 11:00 pm 12:00... but now she wont even go to sleep on her crib! I put her in, in a second she is standing up, and wants to go out... cries & cries.... I tried alreadt letting her cry... but it just makes it worse... she will stand for an hour ( tired like anythinh0 and cry so much!! She wont stop! The only way she is sleeping now is if we lay down with her in one of our beds.... and than we have to carry her VERY carefully to her crib... sometimes it yakes a few tries... we put her in she wakes up and starts crying again... or she just falls asleep in our hands... Im thinking of going inside her crib and laying down with her at least she is in there already ; )..
I really wouldnt want this to be the plan for every single night... I wish she would go to sleep nicely on her crib... oh how I wish!!! , plus she wakes up in middle of the night!
Any ideas??? pleaaaaaaaase! The let her cry method just doesnt work.... its just a waist of time and tears!

How about singing to her, "reading" her a story, putting on some music?

I feel for you...my baby is 5 months old and we are still working on the sleeping issues.
3 ideas -
1. I read this somewhere: Take the mattress out of the crib and put it next to your bed on the floor. The first couple of nights, lie down with her on her mattress until she falls asleep. THen you can move to your bed. She'll get used to being on that mattress, and eventually you can try to move it into her crib.
2. You may not like this idea, but if you can do it, co-sleep! Either in your bed, or get a co-sleeper.
3. Get Dr. Sears's book on sleep, he gives some fade-a-way strategies that may work.
Good luck, and keep it up! You are doing what is best for your child, it won't last much longer.

dont most babies at 5 months not sleep through the night? I heard babies can be hungry till at least 9 months... although its hard im just saying its normal.
oh baby, what really helped me when my baby wouldnt fall asleep was to put her in her stroller, rock her in front of a video. shed get so tired staring that shed fall asleep and then id move her to her crib... she also went throguh a 2 week stage where she refused to fall asleep and would wake up right away if we put her in her crib... how long did your baby not like her crib? is it a new thing?
another idea: do u have any crib toys? My baby has a fish tank with calming vibrations and lights and music... she can turn it on and off herself. sometimes she plays with tit or watches it for 5 minutes and then falls asleep.....
another possibility, could she be teething?? My baby never sleeps normally in her crib when she is teething.
sounds like u tried many things. I knopw its hard but hopefully it will pass soon!!!

Happymom, why are you assuming that "sleeping issues" means sleeping through the night? If she just woke to nurse I'd be thrilled!
She still will often get up and not go back to sleep - in fact we've been up since 4 am and I currently (8 am) have her on my shoulder trying to get her asleep again.
And I am not complaining anyway, I am just empathizing with Ohbaby - some babies are more difficult sleepers. Maybe you have had one, but if you haven't, you may not realize what a mother has to go through to get the baby to sleep. It is not simply "just do this." My baby hasn't fallen asleep for anything since she was 5 weeks old. If she does, she is *always* back up very soon and must be rocked in a swaddle for a pretty long time to REALLY fall asleep.
Sometimes it is hard, yes, but even then I am thankful that I have found a way to help her sleep, and she is a joy and delight and we deal with it with Hashem's help.

momaleh, im sorry I must of misunderstood you, sorry. I understand that every baby is different and I feel for you that your baby doesnt sleep! Its so hard! I do have a baby and for a long time she would wake up too like you are describing... I just know some people who have told me in the past that they are wondering why their 3 month old to 8 month olds dont sleep well..... and I just think thats the way many babies are, not that it isnt hard! I didnt think u were complaining, sorry if it came out that way!

gosh! that's rough!
A couple of things: Is she going to sleep for the night at 11:00? That is very very late for a baby, and will make it very difficult for her to fall and stay asleep. How many hours is she sleeping? Does she nap during the day? How many and for how long? What is she like during the day? Is she overtired and cranky? If so, she should be going to sleep much much earlier.
Second, the best thing I ever did with my son was institute sleep time routines? Do you have a night-time routine? Routines are calming and reassuring for baby, since they know what to expect.
