I like kids, but not in the workplace. If a coworker brings a school age kid, it’s obviously b/c they’re stuck, and usually they have enough toys and nosh to entertain them, but sometimes they end up playing at my desk, or even going out with me to lunch.
And usually, that’s okay – but today I’m extra busy. I don’t have time for kids.
And I guess that’s looked upon as mean!

I can sort of relate. I live by a Yeshiva and when the Rosh Yeshiva comes with his family for Shabbos, I usually end up spending quantity bonding time with at least one of their kids. One week the 3 year old was pulling on my bedroom doorknob at 8am. My strategy is to be too involved in what I'm doing to be distrurbed.

Nehama, you MUST get a real lock on your apt! This is ridiculous!

The kids can't open the door when it's locked, but they stay in our basement. They need to come through to get to their parents - I just lock all the rooms when they're here!
