At what age did you introduce the potty/toilet? And how did you do it?
What signs of readiness did you look for first?
My son at a year and a half asks to sit on the toilet when he sees other kids doing so. He says "poopoo" and grabs his tush either before or after he poos.
He also points at the toilet and says peepee and poopoo.
He is in cloth diapers so I have a feeling that is helping his awareness of bodily functions.
What process would you gradually introduce potty training?
(Please none of those posts of "give me a break, he's so young, why such pressure?" I'm not pressuring, I figured now might be an ok time to introduce it, as he's asking already to sit on the toilet.)

get a potty 2 familiarise him with it. b4 going in the bath let him sit on it n play there for a few minutes. he prob wont DO anything on it but at the firts satge its introducing them n just getting them relaxed about the concept.
My son is 19m he wears regular papmers but also says poo just before or at the moment of 'making' so he definitely understnad the feeling.

Rivka was pretty aware and not wanting to wear diapers anymore by about 20 months. Her sisters didn't so she didn't want to either. I let her go diaperless (except in the car etc). She gradully got more consistant with going on the potty and less on the floor and was pretty much accident free by around 2.
If you don't want to take off the diapers, you can just ask him casually. If he says poo, ask if he would like to go on the toilet. If you are changing him anyway for a bath, etc, put him on the potty first.
Some kids like the ring, some like a little potty. He might prefer one over the other.
Good luck. My friend's ds was totally out of diapers and accident free before 2, so it's defiantly possible he's ready.

Serph what ever happened with this? It came up in "related topics" and I got reminded. Is he using the potty now?

We got a potty seat just last week. Ds likes sitting on it, but does not seem to understand what to do.

He's telling me sometimes now when he has to pee, and tells me when he poos. I'm not rushing it, but just making him more aware. I tried actually letting him run around naked one day and he just peed everywhere. I don't think he's ready. Maybe when its more summery I'll see more about it. but definitely no pressure.

My 18 month old pointed to the toilet the other day, so after changing him (before putting the new diaper on) I let him sit on the toilet for a minute, he had the biggest smile on his face...
Of course, from past experience, I know he's not ready yet, maybe in a couple of months we'll try that again, and again a few months after that...
But, it's a good sign that he shows that he's aware of what's going on...

And my 2 yr old daughter likes to sit on the toilet all the time but never does anything on it.
I would like her toilet trained by august. What should I do?

That's how Rivka started. She didn't want a diaper. Of course it was a bit easier with a summer girl. I just put her in a dress and nothing under (in the house, out I put her in panties). She peed everywhere for a while then got slowly more accurate. She was totally out of diapers and using hte potty fine by the time she was 2. I plan on doing the same with Avraham Tzvi next summer. I don't really want a 3yo in diapers if I can help it. I didn't plan to do it that way with Rivka, but it worked out great.
