My son has a tutor in school 3x a week. I dont meet her in school but occasionally I ask my son if she was there today?usally he tells me when yes and no. I usally put money in a envelope give it to the secretary and she usally gives it to the tutor.I know 1 mistake I did was give cash.now I trusted her that she would write down exactly what I owe and what I pay.I thought I was totally payed up but meanwhile she called me that I owe her $450 now I dont think I owe her I cant show proof bec I payed her in cash what would u do?how would u go about it?im the type of person I trust everybody.so I dont keep cheshbone.what should I do?since I started with her she tells me how much I owe her. in the begining everytime she told me amount I gave her now im starting to qeustion it?what should I do?how should I go about it?

I hate to say this, but are you 100% sure that the secretary handed the money over and didn't pocket it herself? or, maybe she didn't hand it directly and the envelope was intercepted by someone else?
In other words, you can't even be sure that the tutor ever recieved payment.

I don't think the secretary took it.she's too honest I always made sure with the tutor if she got the money she always said yes.I just think she forgot to write it down when she got it.also when u have a cash it goes much faster then check.

from now on know you must keep your own cheshbon - it helps protect from such situations, it is not about trust.

if she kept records and you say you didnt, well then you need to trust hers, dont you?

what choice do you have?

or you can argue over the 450? or chalk it up to an expensive lesson in why you need to keep track.

if she said that she received the money, then it's up to her to prove that you owe her.

When using cash to pay anyone for anything, demand a receipt, even if it's just a scribbled note and nothing official.

my kids once made the mistake of paying the delivery man in cash when I was sleeping - the store never received the money.
