my sister used them for a short time and my father has a friend who has been wearing them for as long as I can remember, and that's gotta be like 25 years...what about them wouldn't be safe?

do you normally wear contact lenses? becasue they take getting used to. I think the regular contact lense brands make them. there are several websites you can buy lenses from. I use visiondirect.com. I thought of getting them once but they are quite a bit more expensive and you need to buy a whole box, and since my eyes are 2 diffrent strengths, 2 boxes.

I would think they are as safe as regular lenses. I was told not to wear lenses every day, give my eyes a break one day a week.

Colored contacts are safe if prescribed and fitted by a doctor. Remember they are regular lenses (a medical device) only colored. The nightmare stories are when people purchase them in drug stores or from a web site and were not fitted. Severe damage CAN occur if ill fit lenses are worn - even infrequently.

Maybe that was it. Because I would be getting for just a one time use, I didn't even think of going to the dr. Maybe my dh heard a story that happened who also just bought it for a one or two time use.

I wear disposable color-enhancing lenses. They're not cheap. Between the disposable and the color-enhancing, they're some of the more expensive. But I found that disposable was the only way for me to go for comfort purposes and the color didn't add too much to the cost.

The color-enhancing won't actually CHANGE your eye-color. But if you have say, like I do, sorta greenish-hazelish (depending on the day, depending on what I'm wearing, etc.), they'll really make your eye color bright. I've worn these for years (maybe 15 years now) and have never had any problems. I wear Focus softcolors.

There are both - color changing and color enhancing. Brown eyed people need color changing lenses - color enhancing does not do anything. Light eyed people are able to wear the color enhancing. They make blue eyes "bluer" or "greener". Green eyed people can become more blue - aqua - greener and they even have violet for those that need.

I only bought my lenses from a website after having them fitted by an optician. I would never know which to get otherwise.
