Do you "lecture" your children?

I find myself lecturing my 8 yo DS lately. I remember hating this as an older child. Do you think the message penetrates even if the lecture itself is annoying?

Or, is lecturing a big waste of time?

Unfortunately sometimes I find myself doing it too. And of course they don't listen, it just makes me feel better.

Yeah, what Cassandra said Thumbs Up

When I get that way I try to reread 'How to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk' to get back in the groove of more effective parenting. It works for me.

yeah but once I get on a roll I start articulating the specific behavior that he needs to work on even better. I think I'm verbally trying to pound the message into his head.... Banging head

but I feel like Twisted Evil afterwards
