We are thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. Your father is such a special person, beloved by all who know him. Everything Esther said tonight was so true for everyone in the room, not just her. We will continue our tefilos and daven for a refuah shelaima for Eliyahu Dovid ben Esther Malka.

Indianamom- I was touched by what she said and I'm well aware that my father is a huge tzaddik but it was a little wierd-it was like a hesped!

My parents drove down to indy and are waiting for the dr to look at him.

Updates will follow.

chv'sh-Not like a hesped!!! It is just how she talks, she is very emotional and this is a way for people to connect. Not everyone in the community knows your father, there are a lot of new families who moved here recently and it is always nice to know a bit about the person you are davening for. We hope to hear good news soon. Please keep us updated when you can. Is your brother coming in at all?

There are treatments for this to prolong life and to make it worthwhile, we went through something similar with my father. Take every day as it comes and may you and he all have yeshua bekorov.

If chas vesholom it is not a good answer that he gest please get him to a real specialist in the field, there are things that should be done already now. Every day of life counts. No one knows how long they have, even those of us who think we are healthy.

Let me tell you a story which should encourage you.

I have a friend who was diagnosed in his 40s with both multiple myeloma and lymphoma. He was given two years. He went for every treatment possible. He got bone marrow transplants. Nothing was working, but he never gave up. Then suddenly they came up with a new treatment, giving thalidomide as a treatment. It bought him years. Five years. He married off children, saw grandchildren.

(wait..happy ending).

At the end of that time they came up with something which meant he could have another bone marrow transplant. This one worked.

Boruch Hashem he is already 10 plus years past diagnosis. The treatments make his yenner machla from an acute and fatal illness into a chronic one. His life is no picnic but he is alive, works, and plays with his grandchildren who grow yearly in number.

Whatever they find turn the world upside down to find out what treatments are available and if you can afford them get your father to go for whatever he can. During that time they might just come up with something that will cure and if not cure, than make it a chronic and not acute illness.

Have faith and hope.

Thanks Freidasima.

He's already been transferred to the hospital where they take care of these tests multiple times a day instead of twice a year. Plus my father is a friend of one of the dr's (It pays to b a dr...everyone takes care of you with so much passion. In he first hospital my father got a SUITE that is reserved for ppl like the mayor..I walked into the hospital at 5:30 in the morning and went straight to his room. If you look like you kno where ur going ppl assume you shud b there. I used to spend my sundays doing rounds with my father in the 3 hospitals in the area and so the old timers kno who I am and the new ones atleast kno who my father is so I just say I'm "Dr B's" daughter and noone bothers me abt visiting times or anything like that. )

I hope he gets better soon and this thing goes away. I still dont haave any children and he needs to b there at the chasunos! He's 64 and he only has one grandchild tht is 4 months old!
(and now I made myself cry... :'( )

The tests show cancer.

I dont kno what to do with myself. My husband is not here til later tonight...

BH the tumor is on the top of the pancreas and he got symptoms right away. It could have been months before he got symptoms and by that time it would have spread all over.

He's being released from the hospital on friday and they r spending shabbes in Indy. (I dont kno if we will stay for shabbes but we r going tomorrow). He will go home for a week and regain strength. (right now he weighs 125 pounds!) He'll go back to Indy for surgery to take the tumor out and then he'll b able to have chemo and radiation in South bend.

Thank you so much to those that are davening! please dont stop!

I BH have no experience with cancer patients, all I keep wondering is- how much longer does he have to live??
