Mamacita mentioned that there was a poll, but I couldn't find it, so I'm putting up another one.

I know that people put applesauce and ketchup and I wanted to add one more, so the only thing I came up with was, jelly Confused . Ketchup does make more sense because of potatoes and all Rolling Eyes .

Nothing messes with the perfection of a latke. It is perfect on its own merits.

Only apple sauce.

I know that it's actually similar to potato kugel really, but I can't put ketchup on it! No way! Actually, my potato kugel is shredded potatoes and my latkes are blended, so that's pretty different!

I chose applesauce - (totally yummy, by the way) but I also do ketchup sometimes. Just depends on what I'm in the mood for, I guess.

Apple sauce, mayo, ketchup, maybe some sour cream or cream cheese....
Jelly is also yum! Or sweet cranberry/strawberry/any berry sauce with sour cream...

Sometimes I wonder what's the difference between latkes and hush browns, really.

DH's family always served potato latkes with a fleishig meal, so they didn't dip in sour cream. latkes were a side dish with chicken or meat.

I've served them with homenade applesauce, which got rave reviews, but I haven't made it in years. Lots of peeling and chopping.

Speaking of ketchup, once I said to my DB (dear brother), "People say they really like my Pesach brownies but I think they taste like potato starch. What do you think?" He took a bite and said, "Passover the ketchup."

We like jalapeno latkes! I think this recipe is by an Erika something. The original page I found it on seems to have disappeared, and I found it on another page that didn't credit anyone.

Jalapeno Latkes
So, nu, this is different.

2 medium potatoes
1 small onion
3 eggs
pinch salt
1 finely minced clove of garlic
1 teaspoon dried, crushed oregano
1/2-1 teaspoon cumin
pinch cayenne
1 small, green jalapeno
minced matzah meal (optional)

Grate the potatoes and onion. Add the garlic clove, oregano, cumin, cayenne, and jalapeno pepper. Beat in the eggs. Add salt. If the mix seems too liquid, add the matzah meal.Fry latkes in oil, serve with warm salsa and sourcream.
