1 c. sugar
4 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
cinamon
1/2 t. nutmeg
3 c. milk
Mix all together and deep fry in hot oil by dropping spoonfuls. They will rise to the top and cook for 3-5 minutes, turn over and cook for additional 3-5 minutes. Remove from oil to a paper towel or bag and after it's cooled, sprinkle with confectionary sugar.

edited for exact cooking time because I made it the other day.

I used rice milk.
It came out pretty good, but I keep thinking I should squirt some jelly into it too!

what texture is ur batter usually? cookie dough texture? mine was very thin, like a cake batter texture, so I had a hard time putting it in the pot to fry. they didn't come out like balls really.

Maybe because the rice milk is thinner than regular milk.

The batter is thin. Some come out more like a balls than others. Did you like it? I don't like jelly doughnuts, so that would never occur to me.
