Buy early- like shavuous time. My son's bar mitzvah was late August and it was very difficult to shop for myself and my daughters. If you want to wear fall clothes, then August may be fine. But, if you want something more transitional/summer buy early. Stores were very empty last August.

If you want summer for a Sept wedding, you need to buy now.
