Thanks for the clarification, in our family he was known as Rav Shaul Wahl, I guess that's why I mixed it up with Bach, we have a yichus tree descending from him.

As an aside, the old joke about Hungarian last names. When they were giving out last names, everyone gathered together and were divided into 4 categories. Tall, short, pale or dark. Gross, Klein, Weiss and Schwartz.

It’s not a joke, it’s true. They basically divided the Jews into 4 and gave them one of those 4 last names!
I’m originally a Weiss from munkatch, which means nothing cuz basically every Weiss is from munkatch!

Edit: her parents were Dovid and Yona or Tova weinstock, from yaffo. Their daughter married an Eisenman, from the old city.

So actually I think my Weinstock connection is through marriage, but I'm still not sure exactly how.

So curious!!!! I started bugging my mother and my aunt today, but we really don’t have much more info than what I posted. My grandfather had a cousin, and his grandson has given me a lot of info. My aunt is going to try to connect with him after Pesach and see if they can come up with more.

My great grandmother was a Faktor/Factor from lodz.
They were a large frum family, but it seems like most surviving descendants besides us aren’t frum anymore.
I’m curious to know if there are any other frum branches.

I'm the one who posted on the other thread about the Shains.
I was always told that all the Shains are related. Is there anyone is a Shain and is not a grandchild of Zeide Shimon and Bubbe Geneshe?
