Any pot that's been clean and unused for 24 hours will do.
We do use a separate pot with a spout just for this because it's easier, but it's not necessary.

It can be either AFAIK

Personally I have a large tea kettle with a spout I use to make sure every spot is covered and it’s easier for me

It has only been used for boiling water and is not chometz

If you use a pesach pot, you have to boil water in it again because the chometz rose up with the steam.

this. I was listening to a shiur on Kol birama radio that said it should be a clean chometz pot because you can't use it for that pesach if it's pesachdik.

I keep a kettle just for this task. Way too confusing to do it any other way.

I don't think everyone -- or even a majority -- holds this way.

Please ask your LOR. Mine said NOT to use a Chometz one, either a Pesach one or designated Kashering one.
Everyone should follow what their LOR advises. Imamother.com is not a substitute for Rabbinical advice.

That's exactly what we do.
By the time I'm ready to kasher the sink, all chametz pots are packed away.
