I have seen people wear them as is without tying at all...I tie one knot. What is the "right"?

I only knot them if I want the tails off my neck.

They're always too loose if I don't knot it. There's no right or wrong though.

I always thought they were meant to be knotted because it takes away the pre-tied look. But then I see lots of ladies not knotting, and I am not sure if it's right....can see the stiching and gathers
