My 13 year old has started having vocal tics that really disturb him. (Kids in school also make fun of them, which makes them worse.)
B"H, it doesn't seem to be Tourette's since he has only 1 kind of tic.
He does tend towards anxiety, and the war situation and hitting adolescence hasn't helped that at all.
I've been debating whether we should see a neurologist or a psychiatrist, and to whom to go.
We are on Maccabi, but will go privately if necessary.
Who should I contact for help?
Thank you!

Not in Jerusalem so can’t help you there . But if he is on any sort of adhd meds , they can bring on tics . Tourette’s or not you need a good neurologist to determine .
And if you are looking eventually for a Tourette’s medication, to help w/ tics we have had success w/ Risperadone .

He's not on any meds.
He was in therapy for anxiety a few years ago and B"H there was improvement. When the war started, I got hadracha from one of the hotlines and it B"H helped.
Recently he has been showing more anxiety again, and now the tics showed up.
Would you go to a neurologist or a psychiatrist?
