Anyone have any information on going modular (instead of stick built)?
Especially in Lakewood area?
Please share!
I know a couple of people who looked into it and think it's really interesting. They were going to build 4000 sq ft houses - these houses dont have to be small! They didnt get too far because it didnt end up working with their site or they bought instead of built so I dont have any real information.
My site is very simple so no reason that should be a problem
The idea of knowing how much most of the project will cost upfront and having the actual work on site take a couple months or less is very very appealing to me.
I just dont know where to start. I dont know the pros/ cons. Well, I know a bunch of pros from these two. On the other hand, I do know that its not done - maybe a handful of homes in Lakewood. So I imagine there are lots of cons im not being told.

Completely not familiar with them. I vaguely recall someone mentioning that every miniscule change in the standard layout was super costly and it therefore financially didn't make sense. Jewish homes have very specific needs; large rooms, large dining rooms, etc. Layouts using specific dimensions might be extremely limiting.

It isn’t much cheaper than a stick build, but supposed to be stronger.
There are companies in Pennsylvania who do them. A few houses in passaic were built modular.
The more shapes and groves you do the pricier it gets so they are mostly rectangular.
You also don’t get to physically walk through it as it goes so if there is something you don’t like it’s hard to change on a whim.
Once built you can’t tell the difference on the street or inside
The passaic houses are standing strong for about 15 years now.
