I'm taking the plunge and doing this under my SN so please be kind.
By "awesomely dysfunctional", I mean that as much as my life is dysfunctional I do my best to think positive and find the awesomeness in everything!
Ask away Smile

My house is a mess, my kids don't get nearly enough attention, we are struggling financially and it shows... I'm not going to get into emotional health here because that's a little too heavy for the vibe I was aiming for on this thread lol

If you think positive and you find the awesomeness in everything you're far from dysfunctional! Kol hakovod!

Hi, first of all you're awesome. Secondly, how much of the dysfunction would you say is due to you, or in your control?

I would say at least a third - I'm splitting it equally between me, my husband, and our circumstances. Oh and thanks for the compliment Wink

I admire your honesty and I believe that a lot more people feel like you but not everyone is so quick to admit.
So the first thing you should know is that you’re not an exception. You’re normal and human. With limited funds and limited energy.

Thanks, this is very encouraging! I often wonder if many of the people I see on a daily basis who seem to have it all pulled together are secretly struggling, and then I shove that thought away because I don't really want to know whether or not it's true - comparing myself to others is so unhealthy. But it's a hard habit to kick embarrassed

Do you struggle with too much shame? It seems not so much.

Did you used to?

Is toxic shame something you worked on, or need to?

Everyone is struggling with something. Some more some less. It really is not how it seems to the outside world.

Do you think in the future you're going to regret doing this under your screen name?

I am a person with many layers, and my deepest, innermost layers are ashamed of my very existence. I am working on my self esteem/confidence from the outside in, and at this point I'm about halfway through. The downside is that I often overcompensate for my self-shame by WAY oversharing information about my life that's no one's business, which tends to set me back a few steps...

I don't think so. I'm not spilling my deepest darkest secrets here... those are between me and Hashem

OP, I don’t think anyone has it 100% together all of the time!

Also why does it matter if she is not anon… it’s a random screen name
