Please suggest good board games that you've seen on sale for various age groups. Also toys for a family.

Instead of trying to buy s/t for each grandchild, last year I decided to get a game for the older kids and a toy or little kids' game for the younger set, for each of my families.

We actually spent Shabbos Chanukah together and the various cousins had a great time playing together.

I know a lot of them have Catan, Ticket to Ride etc but I think if they're on sale there's always one family who doesn't have it or the kids just became old enough. But I really don't know enough about games...

Thanks for any ideas you can provide!

Someone gave us Otrio for Sukkos and kids of all ages enjoyed.

I liked that each game takes less than five minutes. The ticket to ride style games that take over 30 minutes never seem to get played with here.

I bought this for Yom Tov last year. I had been searching for something that many ages would enjoy playing together, where each game would take 5 minutes or less, that was not Muktza. We all had a good time with it. (The only issue is that it’s easy to lose pieces, I ordered a set of extra pieces that I never even opened.)

I saw Walmart sells Escape Room in a box. Does anyone have that game? Is it good?

Catan and Cover Your Assets are both Shabbos friendly. I'm not familiar with Yeti in My Spaghetti

We love escape room in box, there are different brands though and ymmv.

Yeti is fine for shabbos.

Favorite card games here include rat a tat cat, good for young kids and also enjoyable at any age.

Rummikub is a perennial favorite

Thinking what else is liked here

Buildzi is fun for 2-4 players of almost any age.

Trying to remember the name of it, our cousins have a game that's like apples to apples but with pictures and captions (you choose the picture that goes with the caption.) (Not thinking of dixit, though now that I think of it Dixit had a long run as a favorite. All these - apples to apples, dixit, and the picture thing are best with a group)

For medium age kids (6-10?) We really like banana split.

Medium and older are liking exploding kittens. It sounds weird but the game play is cute.

Young to medium - sleeping queens. (Can play without addition for very young kids)

Fun silly card game for those who don't mind slapping (like who slaps the pile first. We only play those when there are only girls or only boys around) - Taco Cat goat cheese pizza. Yes that's the name of the game.

For little kids (4ish and up?) I like shopping list (there's a Jewish version too) and a dress up game by eboo - I'm not sure if they make it anymore but they have a few variations so I'm sure there's something current - you spin the spinner and get a piece (in the dress up one it's a shirt, pants/skirt, shoes, etc) and the first to complete the picture wins.
