You know the kind I'm referring to.

We are before Rosh Hashana, and it is timely that we speak of the shameless hugging of posts.

Someone responds genuinely, taking time to share with others often sensitive information, and the first response they"ll get is a hug.

How hurtful, dismissive, and rude.

Remember behind every post there is a person, with volnurable feelings (aint we all got'em?)

Life is not easy ... let us be mindful.

Maybe the hugger is a newbie who thinks it’s a real hug. I’m relatively new and it takes a while to learn the culture here.

But, still, can we not expect better? 🤔

I feel like talking about it gives credence to them so I personally feel ignoring is a better option.

Please don’t consider every hug obnoxious.
Especially since you wrote the replies are sensitive and it got a hug. Are you sure those weren’t genuine?

On the same note, if you feel you must hug (as a disagree button) rather quote that post and write what you disagree with. My pet peeve is posts that were obnoxiously hugged without explanation. So immature!

This. I can deal with disagreements, I like a good argument . I can't stand the passive aggressive hugs. If you disagree, you gotta be man enough to say it

Same here. When I do hug a post, I make a point of adding a comment saying that my hug is genuine (unless it’s obviously genuine, like someone who posted they are going through a loss and got tons of hugs, it would be a little weird to afterward say that I hugged their post genuinely, when probably the other 67 or so hugs are also genuine)

Me too.
I disagree plenty and under my SN, but I quote the post and explain why.

The nonconformist in me likes the hugs because that means what I've said is for some reason controversial 😈

I think we should reimage the hug button to be a 'love' button for when you really love a post
