Does it stay open in the room or folded in the closet? Do most people know what it is?

Open at the foot of the bed. Not everyone unpacks and hangs up clothing, and people won't know to look for it if it's not in the open.

Either they'll know what it is or they won't, but they certainly won't know if it's folded up and hidden in a closet.
