I bought a packet of ready petit fours tarts.

What can I fill these with, both starters and desserts.

Simple, straightforward recipes only please!

Fill with lemon curd and top with fresh berries or other fruit, arranged decoratively. Use pumpkin pie filling to make tarts. What about pecan-chocolate chip tarts? At this time of the year, apple crumble tarts would be heavenly.

On the savoury side: Make mini-quiches (you can swap soy or almond milk in the batter if you aren't going dairy), or fill with leftover beef stew and top with another round of pastry to make sorta-British steak pies. If you do the same double crust technique but use a mixture of ground beef, diced potatoes and onions, seasoned with salt, pepper, dry mustard powder, sage and a hint of ground cloves, you have an approximation of a French Canadian Tourtiere.

For a simple dessert - bake - fill with ready made custard (like Bakers choice) and top with berries, strawberries, kiwi.
