Marinate in what? If it's acidic, I think it isn't supposed to be marinating for too long.

Why not? I do that every week. marinate my salmon in a plastic zip bag on Monday and grill and eat on Tuesday…

If you marinate for more than 20-30 minutes, it starts to "cook" the fish and you don't get the delicate fresh flavor.
I would prep the fish. Prepare the sauce or spice mix separate. And refrigerate until tomorrow.

That’s exactly why I marinate it. I don’t like it too fishy.

That's not what I meant. I mean the soft flaky delicate texture. If it's fishy then that means it's not fresh.
