Someone tell me what it’s called so I never order anything with it again.

It comes from a white alien-starfish type vegetable, I think...

I’ve aired out the room to get rid of the smell, and brushed my teeth and rinsed my mouth to get rid of the taste, and still it’s everywhere. Heinous!

Maybe?

It’s xtremely pungent and unmistakably gross.

No that's not it.

Fennel has a licorice- like flavor.

What was it in/where did you get it? That might help us figure out what it was.

Fennel looks more like a hand than a star.

Do you mean kohlrabi? Light green on the outside and white inside. It is kind of spherical, but has what look like tentacles protuding from it (my kids call it the vegetable from outer space).
I like it, but I know many people can't stand it. It has a pretty strong smell (similar to brocolli or cabbage).

But the flavor becomes much more mild when cooked.
I use it in soup and sometimes roast it.

I think it might indeed be fennel.
The flavor is quite strong and for those who don't like anise flavor it might be repugnant.

I did

It looked more like fennel slices.

I guess it’s hard to describe a taste.

Only white vegetable I can think of with a strong, pungent flavor is maybe a daikon radish? But nothing starfish about it.

I have seen white patty-pan squash that look sort of starfish/ alien like but I think they are very mild in flavor.

Did it have a similar texture to celery? If so, it was fennel.
