my community organizes games and distribution of gifts for the kids, and a karaoke for the grown ups. They think it's ok as long as the lyrics are clean and the setting is familial/unromantic, and given that if they mess up they lose their affiliation with Orthodoxy, I am sure they asked a rav (a long time ago I asked a similar question and got a similar answer). If your community is modern, it could go for you too. And if they can sing

I saw the kids playing hide and seek, regular kid stuff... also they played with their gifts. That year I didn't really pay attention because I wasn't obsessed by kids like now

for the adults you can play "how well do you know your spouse". it's fun and easygoing. I wonder what my sil came up with this year....

Yenta Golda Thanks for the idea! I want to use it, can you give me some examples of questions I can ask?

first you start with every person writing down what their spouses wish would be. ex. dh would write cleaning lady. next the men are quiet while the women are asked the questions and the women write the answers and vice versa. then you compare the answers of the spouse and whichever couple has most answers matching gets their wish. car=matchbox car, cleaning lady=$8.00. use your imaginations at that point. questions could be "what color is your spouse's toothbrush?", or "what is your spouse's favorite dish?". try general questions.
