I think anywhere you go in brooklyn is going to be crowded... nelly blye, coney island, prospect park zoo... it's not like 18th ave, but I don't think they'll be much better.

I just checked the jewish children's museum website. they're open chol hamoed with advance reservations only, so maybe they won't be so crowded. also, the brooklyn children's museum is great too.

My son loved the brooklyn children's museum- it's low key- good for little kids. Also, the queens hall of science (out of brooklyn, but not too far) has a great toddler area and we liked it too. If you go early enough, it's not too crowded- a lot of people were coming at 2:00 as we left. Dino's wonder wheel at coney island is also nice, if he doesn't mind going on the rides himself- they don't allow adults on most of the rides. They're really little kids rides, like the "airplanes" or fire trucks that go around and around. Plus, you can walk on the boardwalk and/or go in the water if you like. We always enjoy that.

there are usually signs all over those places to wash your hands after petting hte animals. Most actually have sinks with soap in the area of a petting zoo. Even all over the childrens museums now they have tons of handsantizers.

Eh, we probably wont actually touch the animals, but if they are small enough and close enough to be petting zoo animals, they'll be fun for my son.

I've asked about sesame place and was told it's 98% water rides. Nothing much you can do without getting wet.

We're probably just going to take the ferry from 1st avenue and 58th street into battery park. We did it last year and the kids loved it!! In fact DD keeps on asking me when we're going on the ferry. Once we got to battery park, (or I think it was wall street, I'm not sure!!) we just strolled around a bit, went into a few stores and took the ferry back home.
