I usually take from the shabbos food especially in the summer for the familly, no seeing taht you can't eat potaotes from the cholent in the nine days, any other ideas tha ti could serve before shabbos??
we're not potatoe kugel eaters!!
also if I cook a vegetable soup in a fleishig pot, is there a problem eating tha tin the 9 days?? it's pareve though and the pot hasn't been used for some time.

I didn't understand the question. Why don't you just cook some potatoes--mashed, fried, gratineed, baked, boiled, whatever? why do they have to be from the cholent?

this is a good friday to start a new minhag; NOT eating from the shabbos food on friday afternoon.
let the kids have ceral and milk or frozn pizza. or bagels. anything that's inexpensive and easy to eat.
