I have a neighbour who is very stricht on this and won't clean her house in the 9 days. I do...(when I can be bothered)

Depends what and when; you have to know what you can and can't do. For Shabbos, BH, we cleaned everything as usual!

Green, the 9 days is a time of sadness. If I weren't to do ANY housework, including washing dishes, I'd be way too happy and it would defeat the entire purpose of the nine days sadness.

So I guess the 'ideal' thing for the 9 days would be, to spend all day slaving away cleaning and scrubbing, AND having your kids trudge through the house all day with muddy feet, sticky hands, pouring orange juice all over the just-washed counters etc....so you clean all day and have no clean house!! really sad!! Sad
