It lists on the bag, that there are 'cereals' in it, whatever that means. Anyone know if this could be chometz? If so, then what should I feed my love birds?

See if they can eat millet, sunflower seeds, pumkin seeds, nuts quinoa etc. We fed our bird that last year, before he flew the coop. He wasn't a love bird but he was a lovey. We miss him.

You think we should just make our own food mixture then.

Ok.

I was working so hard to get them to try a fancy mixture, when all they want is the millet and sunflower seeds, but l'kavod pesach, I'll just have to sell this suffek chometz and make them something simple.

I'm sorry you lost your bird. He literally flew away?

I got hooked on love birds because a stray one flew into my house (we returned him). Now I have 10 love birds. Crazy.

Yes it could. Look at o-u, crc, and stsr k websites for approved list of pet foods.

Thanks, imasinger. Now I'm getting nervous. It really could be chometz gamor.

I rarely keep chometz gamor, and here I am with a whole bucket of nice (possibly chometzdik) bird food.

I guess I could go pour it out at the nearby lake and feed all the lovely wild birds.

Decisions, decisions.

We had a very smart bird with a not so smart mommy. The bird knew how to get out of his cage, which was in our big washroom (as opposed to toilet room). One day mommy decided to wash the screens and trissim in one bedroom, by taking the out of the window frames and spraying them in the tub. In the room birdie was in. The second I opened that washroom door, the bird flew out, thru the hallway, and into the room with nothing in the window frame. Bye bye birdie. Forever. Crying

What sweet answers! Sorry about Iago....

We have a parakeet and a cockatiel and both of their food has chametz in it. I give them a TON of millet (which is evidently like candy for them...) and alfalfa cubes, which they ignore. And I tell them it's only a "few more days" and to hang in there.

We do sell our birdseed with our chometz and use it for them afterward.

We have birds that someone else was taking care of but suddenly (read: yesterday) couldn't anymore so we now have 4 doves to feed right in time for pesach! We're planning on making a nice birdy potpourri out of millet, ground nuts, and klp cereal.

I was reading the Blumenkrantz book and it says not to give your bird matza. fyi--I don't know how accurate it is (or, in fact, if I read it correctly. Too tired to walk downstairs and get it again, though!)

OK, no matza (they wouldn't eat it anyway).

I'm buying rice! They love brown rice.

And millet, quinoa, and seeds.

And fresh veggies.

And a little Bamba, of course. They love Bamba!
