Potato kugel always is popular. Also Near East brown rice pilaf is really good and "healthy".

I'm strongly considering going all milchig this year. The DD who objected is married now, the little ones don't like meat, and we will have just had meat on Shabbos. As of now, I'm leaning towards:

Dinner 1:
Challa
Cream soup (broccoli or asparagus)
Stuffed shells
Salads
Fruit and dairy chocolate

Lunch 1 (just family, DH exhausted)
Challa
Homemade pizza for kids
Soup
Baked salmon
Salads
Ice cream cake

Dinner 2
Challa
Soup
Pasta or chick patties for kids
sushi for grownups
Fruit/ ice cream

Lunch 2 (with guests)
Challa
French onion soup
Salmon
Salads
Eggplant parmesan
Cheesecake and fruit

Shavuos day we're eating at my parents, and my mom and sisters and I have already planned the big elaborate milchig meal, which we're all contributing to. The night meal however we're eating at home because of the kids bedtime, so still thinking about what to make. I normally make salmon and chicken soup on Friday night, so maybe I'll do soup and a main instead and then make a nice new salmon recipe for Shavuos. Then we can have Ben and Jerry's for dessert which would be amazing!
Anyone have a good salmon recipe? (Not teriyaki) It'll be just DH and I.

I am b"h only making one meal at home

we are having various wraps:

steak, grilled chicken, pastrami, corned beef

potato salad cole slaw and maybe two fresh salads

a mushroom barley soup

and I think I am still at odds over what type of fish....

I am thinking that a) no one is so hungry because of Shabbos and b) everyone wants something fun, I think of yom tov as a time to get creative, especially shavous

Imasinger, I'm also coming.

We'll have a very light dinner and as it's Motzei Shabbat, I'll probably make lox, eggs and onion omelet - easy and quick to make. We'll have vegetable salad with it and then plenty of room left for cheesecake.

For lunch we'll probably have lasagna and more cheesecake.

sbs, wow!!! how do you cook so much?? I need help with a menu for shavous first day lunch. I am having a birthday "party" for me and DH, so basically its all young couples coming. I want something casual and milchik (chalav stam).

So far I was thinking of alfredo (don't know if I should make it with spinach or mushrooms), lasagna (vegetable and not vegetable?), garlic bread (or maybe try to make garlic knots)..

need help with ideas Smile

Thankss!

I do lots of cooking in advance, freezing and reheating either in oven with tea lights or with a fire on the stovetop.

the following are what's already in my freezer

and the following will be made and frozen hopefully within the next week:

Chicken Kishka Wontons

challah's are also all frozen already

then making gefilte/salmon fresh, which I will make on Wednesday, cuz the type of salmon I'm making lasts very long, and the gefilte I always make wednesday

meats and chickens will be prepared in advance and frozen for last day meal and thursday for shabbos and

salads all get made fresh, but dressings are made and refrigerated in advance

pastas will be made friday and combined with sauce before reheating,
