Interesting fact about the car seats in shopping carts. I really thought that latching the car seat onto the cart was the preferable way to put a car seat rather than in the cart.

where are you supposed to put your shopping if the car seat is in the trolley?
Around here the supermarkets have carts with built in infant seats, so I always used those. Do us supermarkets not have those?
But I must live in an incredibly civilised country; the other day I pulled into a supermarket car park and there were two spaces near the door marked with "expectant mothers".

The carseat CAN clip onto the shopping cart, but it still alters the center of gravity making it potentially dangerous.
Raisin--some stores have those kinds of carts you mentioned--though they are not common.
What I've done when my baby was too small to sit was to put him in an infant carrier. When he was able to sit, he went into the seat. It was so cute to see him sitting up and holding on to the handle bar.
