I know you can't/shouldn't cook spicy or hot foods for yamim noraim. I wanted to make a soy sauce based pepper steak and was told I shouldn't bec its salty. But I don't think salty is a problem, only spicy. What do you all think/know? (some torah source would be nice, bec I really want this).

I thought it was just not bitter/sour, I use pepper in a lot of things.

The R"H meals are hard for me for this reason. I don't generally like sweet main/side dishes. To me, desert should be sweet and the rest savory. If you can't even have a salty flavor, then by the end of the meal, I'm ill.

It doesn't say anything about salty in Kitzur Shulchan Aruch,(129:9) where it says not to cook the fish in vinegar. It says about bitter or sour. (chamutzim), and also nuts.

How about spicy then? I would like to make salmon in a spicy tomato sauce(with jalapenos), but is that something that's totally not appropriate for RH?
