I needed a watch battery changed, and I went to a Jewish guy in the subway kiosk near my office. We got to talking, and he comes from Russia, speaks Persian, and of course English, since he moved here with his family.
I'm no geography expert, so DH explaned to me that Russia stretches out, bordering Turkey and Iran/Iraq. I guess I never met anyone before from such a place, where they could speak both languages.

Yes, I have a friend who's from Baku, Turkey which is I guess right near Russia, because she speaks both Russian and Turkish

Is there a Baku in Turkey too? Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan. Their language, Azeri, is very similar to Turkish, and it is a former Soviet republic, so most of them speak Russian too.
Yep, Russia is HUGE, especially if you are talking about Russia as in the former Soviet Union. Massive.
