Mine just turned two and has gone on nap strike, even though he's exhausted. Is that normal?

Most of my kids didn't consistently drop it until they went to school full-day. My 4 year-old does not have naptime in school and she often falls asleep when she comes home at 2:30pm. And trying to get them to cut it out in order to go to sleep earlier usually backfired spectacularly (would crash at 7pm and up at midnight got to sleep anywhere from 2-4am)

Can you just do an earlier bedtime? 2 is pretty normal to stop napping. Or just have down time. He has to rest in his bad with some books.
