Canada: going to the country in the summer

My family in Montreal used to go to the country
They haven't been going for years
I am thinking of going this year, but looking for information
Do you know anything about the summer vacations in the countryside in montreal? Would love some info of where it is and how to rent a bungalow/cabin etc

Hi there

I've been going to the country every summer since I'm born:)

"The country" is the laurentians. The chassidim are in Val morin or Val David. I'm not familiar with those areas. The no chassidim are in Trout lake. You can find a rental in Sainte Agathe but you probably won't have any jews near you, it would be a random non jewish house. These are all max 15 min from each other.

Be prepared it's nothing like the Catskills.. There are no jewish grocery stores. No take out. No real pizza store (there's a lady who sells out of her garage the past 2 summers). No ice cream store. The grocery store and butcher do daily deliveries up north. Day camp in Trout lake is from 10:00-12:30.

Also, it's very very french up north Laugh

That being said, we LOVE it!! Best summers ever!!! So easy and carefree and so healthy!! I wait for it all year!!!

Rentals would most likely be bungalows. Old style country bungalows. You can try looking in the Newsflash. https://www.thenewsflash.ca/
