If you can pay a bit more you can get a three bedroom that needs work in Passaic or they are selling new three bedroom townhomes for 599k

Everything I saw in Passaic was 700k plus and a total dump lol even the things for 1 million were awful!

I bought a 3 bedroom plus attic home that’s far out in newer condition or over 700k. This place ain’t cheap

Twin rivers is a great neighborhood with nice houses but I’m not sure how close it is to monsey. Is it 11/2 hours or 2?

Waterbury is a great community too.

There is very little available for sale in Passaic, even during the spring and summer season. Any house that’s reasonably priced will have tons of offers and you will need to bid over asking. And the house will be nothing special and need work. I heard the townhouses are very small and overpriced for their size. And there arent that many of them. I’m curious to see what will happen to them. If you’re looking in Passaic, you’re gonna really need to want to live there to be willing to deal with the crummy real estate realities of the place. The country has a bunch of different types of communities - there are more chassidish options (blooming grove and gibbers) or there is south Fallsburg(old school yeshvish) and woodridge (not sure what its like

But you can get a home for way less then 500k in that part of the world and its about an hour from Monsey. You could probably even buy property and build....

Dunno what employment options are though

I met a family from mountaindale NY. They seem very nice and like low maintenance people. I doubt housing there is very expensive or that small community wouldn’t exist. I think the kids go to school in either south fallsburg or monsey.

Montvale and Woodcliff minutes away from Monsey chestnutridge should start opening up very soon. The first ones get the best deal

Those are insanely expensive areas, and taxes are crazy too. I live at the border of chestnut ridge and motivate, the taxes are way higher there than in chestnut ridge

This house is ancient and tiny. All other houses are in the 600+ range

Here's an example of what's available in Waterbury. It's on the outskirts but there are Jews on both blocks each way. The house seems to need a paint job badly but is otherwise updated. You can use your extra money to finish the attic or basement to expand to 3000 sq ft and still have plenty left over.
