Waterbury and drive fast? You can get a big home for that amount on some nice blocks. Or you can get a smaller home on the fringe for half of that and have a ton left in savings.

Waterbury have some nice homes but they are cheap ($300.000) and need to be fixed up. Passaic homes seem to be more but even those might need a new kitchen. you really need to speak with the agents and see what they say.

I know a home that was redone already that's quite big and they're asking I think around $500. The houses on the outskirt of the area which will slowly fill up, some of those are redone and going for $250/3

check out stoney point. I heard ppl are going there and its cheaper than Monsey. I think you can get something decent for 5-6 range but may be a bit of a pioneer until the neighborhood develops.
