We prepare them from weeks in advance that they are so excited to put it on once they have their haircut

Not every child wants to wear one before 3 or even 4. My son didn't. We sent one starting at 3 to nursery and they offered it daily. By the time he started kindergarten he wore it daily. One that he chose at the store and tried on.
