I have read opposite ideas online. Some say you can use a little water with cleanser. Some say NO water ever on wood floors. Some use a wood cleaner like Bona.
What do you use? and what kind of mop?
I feel like I need guidance down to every detail how to clean my floors.
And what do you about drying? air dry or cloth dry? etc...

I use the Bona type of cleaner which comes with the microfiber type of mop.

What is really *death* to wood floors is grit so the most important thing is to vacuum regularly and use the attachment that is meant for wood floors and not rugs or carpets. A wood floor attachment has softer bristles and doesn't spin or beat because that kind of action is not necessary for wood and actually scratches the finish.

If I drop something or notice that there is particular splotch then I would take a damp cloth just to clean up the blotch but I would make sure that I had dried it thoroughly

I was told by our contractor to wash with very little water once a week- so we decided to buy the swiffer- it gets the job done quick , and to clean any sudden spills to clean right away..

I can’t imagine never washing the floors I walk on daily. I use water and mild soap and cloth dry afterwards. After years it shows but by then it’s time to have it refinished. I’ll rather live with floors that are a little scuffed, than dirty.

I have an electric mop that immediately sucks the water back up so the floors get clean without accumulating moisture.
