What is the benefit of going through them as opposed to applying yourself?

They can advise you on how to do it best.
I had a baby who was born without insurance and normally I wouldn't qualify for my kids to have Part A of Familycare which would cover retroactively from birth and I would have big bills.
They helped me figure out how to explain my situation to Familycare and get him covered from birth bh.
You still apply on your own.
