PSA - everyone should keep their front doors locked at all times!!
- so UPS drivers shouldn't come in
- MIL can't walk in on you
- Mother can't walk in on you
- and any other unwanted person can't walk in,
I'm literally shocked how many people leave their front doors unlocked

In certain neighborhoods, it's common to leave the front doors unlocked.

Why didn't you report him if he was inappropriate?

Just because it's common, doesn't make it a good idea.

That may be the norm in some places, but then you can't really complain about people opening your door if you refuse to lock it.

I would definitely complain.

Yes, of course you should lock your door, but even if unlocked, that doesn't mean a stranger has the right to open your door.

Regardless of whether a signature is needed, it's inappropriate and frankly bizarre for a UPS driver to open your front door.

Not to scare you, but I would be concerned that he may be testing the waters. This time he opened the door, maybe next time he will try to walk in and case it out.

I once had a weird situation where I was supposed to sign, the guy didn't have a pen, I went inside to get a pen and he actually followed me all the way into my kitchen, about 25 steps into my house. Yes I complained and I never saw that driver again.

So, I would definitely complain if only to create a record and timeline of his conduct, and also to hopefully scare him off.

Maybe locking your door is a good choice, but... yes you should exect peole not to open the door even if it's unlocked! An unlocked door makes it more likely that someone will open it, it doesn't make it OK for someone to open it. It's not even ok to try people's doors to know if it's unlocked in the first place.
Leaving a car unlocked isn't permission for someone to take it.
That's just not how ownership works.

Gasppppp! So not ok. I would be scared to complain that he would come back and rob me but I have high anxiety so. Definitely not ok. I’m horrified to hear that honestly

My local grocery guys always open the front door and hurl the boxes through it (it’s a wonder I ever have whole eggs left).

They won't do that if you lock your door.

Yes he opened the door. This is the 2nd time the driver has done this. I recognized him he once opened my door on a Friday night

Why are you enabling people to open your front door as they please?
it's not good manners to open people's front doors. Unfortunately not everyone has manners.
